  • I Am Worried That I Am Going To Be Judged For Getting It Wrong

    One of the things that holds me back from moving forward is being worried about what other people will think.

    I worry that the people in my life will see me try something new, see me mess it up, and then judge me as a failure.

    Today we tap for worrying about the judgement of others.

    I want to be successful…I want to move forward…I want change…I want transformation…I want my life to be better…In order to do that, I’m going to have to try…I’m going to have to put myself out there…I’m going to have to do things I haven’t done before…And it’s possible I might fail…It’s possible I might get it wrong…It’s possible that people will judge me…It’s possible they’re going to look at me and laugh…They’re going to see my failure…And they’re going to think I’m a failure…They’re going to see my mistakes…And they’re going to think I was mistaken even to try…But my transformation is about me…It’s not about them…My transformation is about moving forward…It’s about my change…Often people make us feel little when we try…Because they’re afraid to try themselves…And it makes them feel better by making us feel small…This is my work…This is my effort…This is my opportunity to move forward…What’s important is that I try…By putting forth the effort…So that I continue to move forward…It doesn’t matter what they think…It doesn’t matter what they say…My transformation is too important…And too valuable…To be knocked down by their words…

  • If I Succeed They Will Expect Me To Do It Again

    One of the things that holds me back is the worry that if I do something well then everyone will expect me to achieve that standard again.

    When this happens a part of me holds me back from success to make sure I don’t create higher expectations that I will have to live up to in the future.

    I want to move forward…I want to be successful…I want to achieve my goals…I want to have better…I want to challenge myself…And reach new heights…But there’s a part of me that’s worried…That if I achieve…That if I move forward…That if I’m successful…I’m setting myself up for trouble…Because if I’m successful…If I do this well…If I exceed expectations…My new level of success…Will be what is expected of me in future…Everybody will expect more of me…And I’m working hard to meet these goals…And if they expect more of me…I have to work harder all the time…I give myself permission to know…I can be successful…And meet my standards…I can be successful…And meet my expectations…Because my standards…And my expectations…Are what are most important…It’s less important…What others hold me to…I can be successful…I can move forward…Without making it harder for myself…By feeling like expectations have been raised…

  • Tapping Before Eating

    [Remember to tap at least once with your goal list this week. If you need help on how to do that check out tapping with goals instruction.]

    This week we are going to tap for the food we eat in a way that gives us two benefits. The first benefit concerns our goals and dreams, and the second is about how our body deals with the food.

    At least once a day when you sit down for a meal (though you can certainly benefit from doing this every time you eat something) I would like to you to start tapping.

    Once the food is in front of you I want you to do one round of tapping just concentrating on your food. All you need to do is tap on each point 5–7 times without saying a word and then move on to the next tapping point.

    After completing this quick round of tapping you will do a second round to something like this:

    I appreciate this food…I appreciate that this food will provide fuel for my day…I want this food to feed my hopes and dreams…I want this food to fuel my work and my creativity…I do not want this food to fuel my worries or fears…I want this food to fuel my hopes and dreams…I want this food to fuel my work and my creativity

    Tapping like this will achieve two things. The first round of tapping will help to clear any sensitivities to the food you are about to eat. (Most of the work I do with autism is based on this process.)

    The second round of tapping will help us to be in the moment and give the system a very clear signal on why we are eating.

    I have found that using this tool encourages a productive and creative frame of mind after my meal.

  • Becoming Who We Are To Be

    Today we are reflecting on transformation: “Help me to be transformed into the new creation I am called to become.”

    I am a work in progress and am constantly transforming. A balance needs to be struck between being who we are right now, and who we would like to be in the future.

    Today we tap for finding that balance.

    I am in process…I am unfinished…There are goals that will still be revealed…There are gifts that will still be uncovered…There will be opportunities to change and transform…Transformation can be scary…I give myself permission…To know that transformation is OK…I was built for transformation…I was built for change…I was built for growth…I give myself permission…To be open to that transformation…But at the same time, I don’t want to be so focused on transformation…That I miss this moment…That I miss this opportunity…That I miss where I am right now…Even as I’m called to transformation…There’s much for me in this moment…I give myself permission to be present to this moment…To enjoy this moment…There’s a tension…Between who I am…And who I’m becoming…I give myself permission to be OK with that tension…To enjoy the moment and to give myself permission to grow.

  • I Can’t Start Unless I Have My Goals Perfect

    One of the challenges of a process like this is feeling like we have to know exactly what our goals are before we start.

    We feel that if we don’t know where we are going, we will head off in the wrong direction and end up wasting time and effort.

    Today we tap for being stuck because we need a perfect plan.

    There’s a part of me that’s worried…Because I don’t know where I’m going…And I don’t know exactly what I want…I’m worried that I’m going to head in the wrong direction…That I’m going to waste time on the wrong things…That I’m going to get lost and not find my way back…That because I don’t know where I’m going…I’m going to make lots of mistakes…But I give myself permission…To know that it’s OK…To not have a perfect plan…To not have perfect goals…To not have everything planned out…My goal list is a work in progress…And as I move forward…And as I try new things…I’m going to learn things about myself…And I’m going to learn things about the process…And that’s OK…Because with experience…My goals are going to get sharper…My plans are going to become more refined…And as I move forward…I can enjoy that process…Even if I’m not heading in the exact, right, perfect direction…It is a process…And that’s OK…I give myself permission to be easy with myself…And easy with the process.

  • I Am Afraid To Share My Gifts

    Sometimes we feel that we will be judged if we share our gifts. We are worried that people will think that we are foolish or what we have to offer is trivial.

    Today we tap to knowing that it is good for us to share our skills and talents.

    I want to share my gifts…I want to share my talents…I have so much to offer…And I know when I offer…I improve the lives…Of those around me…And I improve my own life…And there’s a part of me that’s worried…That if I share my giftedness…I’m going to be judged…I’m going to be seen as foolish…I’m going to be seen as making mistakes…I’m going to be seen as less than…I give myself permission to know that not everybody is going to accept…My gifts…And what I have to share…But my gifts are not for everyone…My gifts are not for every circumstance…And when I share my gifts…The people who can be transformed by those…Will receive them…It’s good that I recognize that I’m gifted…It’s good that I feel confident sharing those gifts…It’s good for me…It’s good for those around me.

  • Bonus Good Night’s Rest Script

    Are you looking for something to help you sleep through the night? Try this right before you go to bed.

    There are a number of things that didn’t go as planned today.

    Some of them are still on my mind.

    They are floating around in the forms of regret and disappointment.

    At this point there is nothing I can do about these things.

    I give myself permission to let these worries and anxieties to melt away.

    If I need theses worries and anxieties again tomorrow I can re-find them.

    More than likely after a good night’s sleep these things will seem less daunting and tomorrow I will have the opportunity to respond in a new way.

    There are a number of things that I am thinking about that are going to happen tomorrow or sometime in the future.

    There is nothing that I can do about these things tonight.

    The best thing that I can do about the unknown that is coming in the future is to get a good night’s sleep so that when I wake tomorrow I will be well rested and re-energized to take on these tasks and opportunities.

    When I climb into bed tonight I will fall asleep easily and gently.

    When my head hits the pillow my body will naturally relax.

    It will happen easily and gently.

    Even if I don’t fall asleep right away that is OK because I know just resting in bed is going to do a lot for my system, giving it a chance to slow down and heal.

    I know the part of my system that is responsible for sleep works very hard.

    It wants me to sleep and to receive all the amazing benefits that come from a night of restful sleep.

    I appreciate the part of me that is responsible for sleep, even though I sometimes am hard on myself and this part of my system when it has a hard time sleeping.

    I want the part of my system that is responsible for sleep to know that it is not alone in providing me sleep.

    The whole system is committed to a night of deep, relaxing, gentle sleep.

    Whatever other parts of the system that the sleep part wants to call on, I give it permission to do that now.

    AND I want it to know that I want it to work with the rest of the system.

    My system works best when all the parts are working together.

    I am going to have restful sleep tonight.

    I am going to have gentle sleep tonight.

    I am going to have re-energizing sleep tonight.

    I am going to have healing sleep tonight.

    I am going to sleep in such a way that it will feed my creativity and inspiration tonight.

    In the morning I am going to wake up gently and easily.

    I am going to wake up re-energized and ready to take on a new day.

    I am going to wake with open eyes to new opportunities and bigger dreams.

    I am going to wake knowing that this night’s sleep served me and the new day very well.

    I give myself permission to have a gentle, restful night of sleep.

    My sleep is important.

    During sleep my system has the recharge and re-energize.

    During sleep my conscious, subconscious, and unconscious minds have the opportunity to sort out all the new information and lessons form today.

    While I am sleeping I don’t need to give any of these functions any thought.

    My system can take care of all of this while I get a gentle, restful night of sleep.

  • 4 Questions To Start The Day

    Over the last few weeks I have received a lot of questions about how to work toward goals when you still don’t have a clear idea of what your goals should be. Today I have tool that will help you to start really small. Even if you do have a clear idea of what your goals are, this a great way to approach your day.

    Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of this tool. I learned this just a few weeks ago and have been trying it out. I love it! It really works.

    It will be most effective if used at the beginning of your day, but that doesn’t necessarily mean as soon as you get up. I have been using this when I start my work day.

    [Note: In addition to working for the thing I was tapping for, I also found myself more productive with all of my other goals.]

    I encourage you to write out your answer. I have included a pdf you can print out to make it easier. After you have answered each of the questions tap through the entire script a few times.

    Complete the following phrases.

    1) Right now I feel…
    because…

    2) At the end of the day I want to feel…
    I want to feel like this because…

    3) The one thing I want to accomplish above everything else is…
    If I accomplish this I will have…
    and…
    and…

    4) One resource I could call on to help me to meet this goal is…

    Here is an example of what it might look like:

    Right now I feel… like I am already way behind
    because… I started my day late and no matter what I do I don’t think I can catch up.

    At the end of the day I want to feel… like I have accomplished something today and that I have moved forward
    I want to feel like this because… Knowing I have accomplished something makes me feel good, I will be in a better mood when I have dinner with my friends, and I will be more fun to be around.

    The one thing I want to accomplish above everything else is… to have a clear plan of what I need to write over the next few weeks
    If I accomplish this I will have… the calm that comes with having a plan
    and… a plan to follow so I can keep on track and not have to worry about the big picture and just focus on what is in front of me
    and… I will feel excited about knowing that good things are coming.

    One resource I could call on to meet this goal is… looking through self help forums to see what people are talking about and what they really need help with
    and I give myself permission to call on this resource.

  • Model Of Virtue

    The reflection for today’s tap along is, “Help me to remember that my words and actions serve as a model for others, even when that is not my specific intention.”

    We are not responsible for what others think, feel, and do, but our words and actions do impact those around us. It is good to remember that our actions help to guide the thoughts, words, and actions of other people.

    I am not responsible for the choices of others…I am not responsible for others’ actions…I am not responsible for the thoughts of others…But I do impact those around me…In the words I say…In the actions I take…There are times I do this publicly…Where I take a stand to intentionally be a model…It’s good to encourage others…And to push others…To see things differently…And to think in new ways…But I do this more than just when I do it publicly…I do this more than when I do it just intentionally…It happens all the time…In my thoughts and words…Even when I think I’m not being public…I am being noticed…It’s good I take responsibility…For how my words and actions impact others…Even when I don’t think I’m being noticed…My words and actions impact others…And I define who I want to be…Through my words and actions…It’s important to remember that all of my actions…Not just my public actions…Are impacting others…And it’s good I take responsibility for them…
