    Our success doesn’t happen in a vacuum. When we make progress it can directly impact the lives of our loved ones.

    Our loved ones can sometimes encourage us to take action because of the benefits they will receive, rather than what we get out of it.

  • I Am Worried That If I Do This For Myself My Loved Ones Will Expect Me To Do It For Them As Well

    When we make changes in our life it often means doing more work because we are taking new actions and learning new things.

    Our loved ones sometimes want to reap the benefits of our hard work as well. It is fine for us to choose to share our progress with our loved ones but more difficult if there is a sense of expectation from them.

    Feeling worried about others taking advantage of our progress can hold us back from taking action.

    Today we are going to tap for those times we worry about others expecting us to do for them what we are doing for ourselves.

  • I Feel Like I Am Going After This Goal Because Others Think It Is What Is Best For Me

    We are lucky to have people in our lives who want better for us. We are lucky to have have people in our life who want more for us.

    The problem is that sometimes our loved ones use their own sensibilities and desires to name what they think is best for us. When this happens it can be hard to tell if we are working towards a goal we genuinely want or one others think we should want.

  • I Am Stuck In The Same Old Patterns As The Rest Of My Family

    There is no doubt that we are influenced by the families we grow up in. We spend so much time with our family that it’s entirely natural to adopt the same patterns and approaches.

    At a certain point we recognize that we need to break free, but sometimes that is easier said than done.

  • I Feel Like I Am Doing This Because This Is What I Am Supposed To Do

    Sometimes we move toward our goals because they are truly what we want. But there are also times when we act because we think it is what we are supposed to be do.

    When we feel like we have to do something rather than want to do something we don’t take effective action and can end up stuck and resentful.

    Today we are going to tap for those times when we act because we feel obliged to do so, rather than because we want to.

  • I Don’t Know Why Wanted This In The First Place

    When it takes time to reach our goals it can be easy to lose touch with why we wanted them in the first place. We become bogged down in the details and tasks and lose touch with why we wanted the change in the first place.

    This can really kill our enthusiasm for working towards our goal!

  • I Can’t Tell If I Am Pursuing This Because I Want It Or If I Am Supposed To Want This

    Everywhere we turn we receive information about what will make us happy. Much of this comes from traditions and a shared history of how life is supposed to look.

    Taking advantage of the wisdom of the ages can be useful when trying to craft our path in the world but it is important to remember that just because something is good for most people doesn’t mean it right for us.

    Today we are going to tap for that feeling of not knowing if we are working toward something because it is best for us or because we feel like it is supposed to be best for us.

  • Others Are Applying Their Definition Of Happiness To Me

    Most of the people in our life honestly and truly want what is best for us. The problem comes when they are giving us encouragement and advice based on what they believe is best for us and not what we think is best for us.

    It is not that they don’t trust us, but they are seeing our lives through the lens of how they see their own lives.

    Today we tap for those times when it feels like others are trying to get us to live up to their definition of happiness and success.

  • Everyone Keeps Saying This Is What I Need To Do, But I’m Not Sure

    It is nice to have the care and support of the people in our life. Because they want what is best for us they are willing to offer advice and suggestions on what to do next. But problems can arise when they are suggesting a course of action based on what would make them happy, which is not necessarily what would make us happy. Sometimes it is hard to tell if what others are encouraging us to do is what is best for us.

  • I Feel Like I Am Just Living Up To Someone Else’s Expectations

    Sometimes it feels like our goals and standards are motivated by a sense of duty rooted in family traditions or the expectations of loved ones. When we are working towards a goal that isn’t our own it is hard to stay focused and motivated.

    Today we are going to tap for when it feels like we are seeking something not because we want it, but because we are living up to someone else’s standards or expectations.
