  • Be Love

Today we are reflecting and tapping on, “Queen of love, teach me to be love.”

My friend Joia uses the phrase, “Love is a verb” regularly when she is speaking to high schoolers. Love is not a feeling but a conscious action we can take.

Join me in tapping to make a choice to be love more.

    Be Love
    (audio 3m45s)

I want more love in my life…I want more genuine connection…I want more authentic connection…I want to be present to others…In a way that allows them to have that connection…I want to be present to others…As a model and the light…I want to be present to others as love…That can be hard day-to-day…That can be hard moment-to- moment…As I get wrapped up in details…As I get wrapped up in goals…As I get wrapped up in tasks…It’s easy to lose connection with my loving self…And it’s easy to lose connection with love…Because it’s hard for me to see beyond the right now… When I am love…I’m fully present in this moment…When I am love…I see myself and others as they truly are…There’s no rush…There’s no hurry…This doesn’t mean I stop moving… This doesn’t mean that I stop growing…It simply means I am…I’m present in this moment…I see my authentic self…I see others’ authentic selves…And I’m able to appreciate all of that…I want to be love…In all that I do.

  • What If No One Notices My Progress?

I have worked really hard over the last few years to make myself and my life better. I am proud of the changes I have made.

Sometimes people see those changes and it is nice to have that recognition.

There are other times where it goes unnoticed and, even worse, people assume I am like I was in the past. I find this demoralizing.

Today we are going to tap for feeling demoralized because others don’t notice our change.

What If No One Notices My Progress?
    (audio 4m25s)

I want to keep moving forward…I want to keep making changes…I want to step towards my goals…Knowing full well that as I move forward…My life is going to change…I’m going to see things in new ways…I’m going to act in new ways…And I’m going to respond moment-to- moment in new ways…There’s part of me that’s worried…That the people around me…Aren’t going to recognize that change…They’re going to see me as I was…Simply assuming nothing has changed…Expecting me to fill the exact same role…And not appreciating all the effort that I have put in…And when this happens…It almost feels like the change was worthless… Because it hasn’t been validated…And recognized by those around me…It would be really nice if others could celebrate my transformation…It would be really nice if others saw me in the new way that I am…It would be really nice if they saw all the hard work I’ve put in to make this change…And that may or may not happen…But even if others don’t see my change…It doesn’t invalidate my change…Even if others continue to see me in the old way…It doesn’t mean my work wasn’t worth it…I need to keep moving forward…I need to keep striving for better…Even when others don’t recognize it…Even if others dismiss it…This simple fact that I’m changing…And moving forward…Is enough for the transformation…Maybe someday others will see the new me…But what’s most important is the fact that I keep moving forward…Keep producing the goals…Keep striving…Keep becoming the new me.

  • I Feel Like My Goals Are Too Big And I Will Never Achieve Them

Often when we create goals they involve big changes in our lives. Because of this they will take time and planning to achieve them.

This can feel overwhelming because we have so far to go that we wonder if we’ll ever get there.

Today we tap for feeling like our goals are so big that we will never reach them.

I Feel Like My Goals Are Too Big And I Will Never Achieve Them
    (audio 3m59s)

I know I want to achieve my goals…Even if I don’t have a clear vision of what those goals are…I know I want to achieve those goals…And those goals will make a big difference…They make a big difference for me…And they’ll make a big difference for others…But sometimes those goals just seem too big…Sometimes those goals feel like a step too far…That no matter what I do…No matter how hard I try…I’m never going to get there…Not in this lifetime…It just seems like way too much…It just seems like it’s way too far…It’s hard to get motivated…It’s hard to stay motivated…When your goals feel that far off…But I don’t have to do them all…I don’t have to do them all at once…Little by little…I can start working towards my goals…And my life is going to improve…Even before I achieve my goals…Even before I get there…Even before I make it all the way…As I get closer to my goals…The quality of my life is going to improve…And that’s going to make it worthwhile…It’s not an ‘all or nothing’ proposition…It’s not an ‘everything at once’ proposition…It’s possible for me…To start moving towards my goals today…And as I start moving towards my goals today…My life will improve…And that’s what it’s about…It’s not about my goals…It’s about a better life…And I can start working towards those…Right now.

  • Standing And Taking A Step Back

Instead of reminding you to tap for your goal list this week, this week’s tool includes your goal list.

I’m sure you have heard the phrase, “We need to take a step back and look at it.”

The idea being that when we step back we are able to see the big picture and how all the parts fit together. This makes perfect sense when we are talking about something in physical space like setting up the stage for a speaking event or working on the flowers in front of our house. We have our head down working on one part and then step back to look at the whole.

Did you know that taking a physical step back when thinking about something helps to give you a new perspective? It is easy to see the big picture and new paths to success.

This week I would like you to sit down and read through your goal list. Don’t rush. Take your time to read each goal. Don’t worry if you feel that your goals are incomplete.

After you have done that, stand up and take a step back. If your goals are on a sheet of paper, leave them on the table, and if they are on your computer just leave them up on the screen. Once you are standing I want you to look at your goals, not reading them, but just looking at them and start to tap. Move from tapping point to tapping point.

As you do this don’t be surprised if you come up with new insights about what your goals should be, or what you can do right now to start moving toward them.

Please let me know how you experience this process below in the comments.

  • Being An Advocate

Today we are reflecting on, “Help me to be a champion for those who have no advocate.”

The fact that we have enough time to do tapping and work on developing ourselves means that we already have a better life than much of the world’s population that is struggling just to get by each day.

We have the opportunity to be a voice for those who don’t have a voice.

Join me in tapping to be that voice.

    Advocate
    (audio 2m50s)

I have so much…I appreciate the fact that I have so much…I’m glad I have the opportunity to pursue my goals…To ask hard questions about my own life…To try to heal past wounds…I appreciate these opportunities…There are people around me who don’t have that chance…They don’t have the opportunity to state their own goals…They don’t have the opportunity to work towards healing…They don’t have the resources to ask the hard questions…It’s not that they don’t want to…They just don’t have the opportunity…They might not have the safe space…They might not have the time…They might not have the know how…It’s good for me to stand up for…To speak up for…To be an advocate for those who have no voice…It’s not my responsibility to carry their burdens…It is not my responsibility to fix their problems…But I have the chance to stand up for them… And to speak out for them…And when they’re lifted up…We are all lifted up.

  • Worried That People Will Think I Am Foolish For Wanting This

My life is far from typical. I make choices that most people won’t make. Because of this loved ones have questioned my choices (and my sanity).

It can be hard enough trying something new. It gets even harder when we worry that the people in our lives will think our goals and dreams are foolish.

Today we tap for people judging what we are trying as silly and foolish.

    Permission To Quit
    (audio 3m40s)

I have a sense of what I want…Even if it isn’t a perfect picture…I know the direction I’m heading…And the goals that I have…Are my goals…They’re personal goals…They’re about me…And about who I want to be…They’re not about anyone else…And when I state my goals…Others may not think they’re very good…Some people will think they’re foolish…Some people will think that they are a waste of time…Some people will think that they’re just stupid…They might even tell me that…They might even make fun of me…My goals are about me…My goals are about making my life better…My goals are about making my life richer…My goals are about making my life full of joy… It does not matter what other people think about my goals…It doesn’t matter if they think they’re foolish…It doesn’t even matter if they say they’re foolish…My goals are about me…They’re not about them…My goals are about my joy…They’re not about them…It doesn’t matter…What they think…What matters is what I think…What matters is what is right for me…What matters are my goals and my life.

  • Tap-Along Call Recording Feb. 27th

Because there were so few questions I will be recording a bonus audio this week.

  • It Is Going To Be Painful If I Try And Fail

There are few things I find more painful than naming something as important, putting my heart and soul into it, and then failing.

Because this has happened in the past there is a part of me that would rather not try than deal with that feeling again.

Today we are going to tap for the hesitant part of us that doesn’t want to feel the sting of failure.

    What If I Fail
    (audio 3m35s)

I am worried that I’m going to fail… I’m worried I’m going to invest my time…And I’m going to fail…I’m worried I’m going to invest energy…And then I’m going to fail…I’m worried that I’m going to invest resources…And then I’m going to fail…Failing is no fun…It feels like a waste…It can be embarrassing…When we fail at a task…It’s easy to feel like a failure…I don’t want to feel like a failure…I give myself permission…To know it’s OK to fail…I am not going to do everything perfectly…I didn’t do it perfectly last time…There have been times where I completely messed it up…And that’s OK…I survived those failures…I learned from those failures…I grew from those failures…I’m not looking to fail…I’m not hoping to fail…But failing will not be the end…Sometimes when I fail…It simply means I’m not done…I’m one step closer to my goal…I just don’t completely have it yet…And that’s OK…I’ve survived failure before…And I’m going to survive it again…It’s OK to try…Knowing failures are possibility…Because I’m trying…Because of the value of the reward.

  • Photo Tapping

[Remember to tap at least once with your goal list this week. If you need help on how to do that check out tapping with goals instruction.]

This week’s tool in some ways rhymes with the Music @ 13 tool because we are going to use things that remind us of the past to tune into emotion.

This week I would like you to spend a little time each day tapping with photos. To do this all you need to do is look at photos of yourself at different points in your life and tap.

For this exercise it is really important to linger and spend time with each photo. I don’t want it to be like flicking through a photo album online where you are quickly flipping past each picture.

Find a photo of yourself, look at it carefully and start tapping. What were you thinking about at that time? What were you feeling? What were your hopes? What were your biggest fears?

When you do this, choose many different points in your life and include a recent photo.

This type of tapping can feel a little cheesy and maybe even a bit uncomfortable. Challenge yourself and give it a try.

Note: If you would like to take this tool to the next level you can also tap while looking photos of loved ones like parents, siblings, partners, and your children.

  • Seeing Joy

Today we are reflecting on joy: “Help me to see joy in big and small places, and help me to bring joy to the joyless.”

For me, joy is something that runs deep. It is not on the surface like happiness, which can be fleeting.

Joy is being able to be fully present to what is in front of us and savor every bit of it.

Join me in tapping to seeing more joy in the world.

    Joy
    (audio 3m05s)

I want to see joy…I want to experience joy…I want to be joy…When I’m present in this moment…And not hurried… I’m paying attention to what is going on…And it’s easy to see joy…Joy in others…And feeling it in myself…Joy is about connection…Joy is about presence…Joy is about recognizing what is good…Joy is about following my own dreams…Joy is about recognizing my dreams…Joy is about giving me permission to be in my dreams…Joy is recognizing others being in the moment…And seeing them for who they truly are…Joy is everywhere…Even in places that seem dark…I simply need to be…Open to that joy…I give myself permission…To look for joy today…Because it’s there…If I authentically seek it…I will find it…It will lift my spirit…And I will feel joy too…
