    We want our loved ones to support us and to be happy about our progress and success.

    But there will be times when they just don’t get it. They don’t understand our goals or they don’t understand why they are important to us and this lack of support can influence our willingness to take action.

  • My Success Will Make Some Of My Friends Feel Bad

    The changes we make in our lives are often noticeable to our friends. This is often a good thing because appreciate our progress, encourage us to continue, and can be inspired by our effort and action.

    But our success can also shine a light on our loved ones’ lack of progress leaving them feeling bad as a result. In wanting to save their feelings we may become hesitant about taking action.

  • I Am Stuck In The Same Old Patterns As The Rest Of My Family

    There is no doubt that we are influenced by the families we grow up in. We spend so much time with our family that it’s entirely natural to adopt the same patterns and approaches.

    At a certain point we recognize that we need to break free, but sometimes that is easier said than done.

  • I Feel Bad That I Am Worried About What Other People Think

    I know it doesn’t do me any good to be concerned about what other people think. But I do it anyway.

  • People Close To Me Feel Like I Am Judging Their Lack Of Progress When I Share My Goals And Progress

    It is easy to get excited about our goals and how our life is changing. But not everyone is trying to make progress in the same way and sometimes those close to us feel self-conscious about their own lack of progress.

  • If I Learn How To Do This New Thing Then I Will Be Given Another New Thing I Have To Learn

    Learning new things is great. It helps us to grow, move forward, and become more self-sufficient. Unfortunately, we can (or others can) feel like we always need to be learning something new. Once we have gained one skill there is a pull to learn another.

  • If I Am Successful I Will Stand Out And That Is Uncomfortable

    When we are successful chances are that we will stand out in the crowd. This can feel really scary because when we are noticed it opens us to more scrutiny and criticism.

    When we move to take action there are few guarantees. Things might work out and they might not.

  • Others Will Think I Am Selfish For Pursuing My Goals

    In order to pursue our goals we need to spend time, emotion, and energy to make those goals happen.

    This might mean that we stop doing other tasks and spend less time with the people in our lives. As much as our loved ones want what is best for us, they sometimes push back on us for trying to achieve our goals. They might even think or call us selfish for doing something for ourselves.

    Today we are going to tap for the fear that others will perceive us as selfish for doing something for ourselves.

  • If Others See Me Improve They Will Expect Me To Keep Improving

    Making progress is really encouraging. We feel better about ourselves and it gives us momentum to take more action.

    One of the side effects of our success is that others may raise their expectations of us.

    This can be both flattering and feel like a burden. Part of us can be fearful that others will expect this new level of success from us all the time.

    Today we are going to tap for the fear that others will expect more from us if we succeed today.
