  • Making Happiness A Choice

In my mind, happiness is a choice. Not that we can always choose to be happy, but there are times in which we don’t choose to be happy when we could do. Today we are going to tap for creating the space to allow ourselves to choose a better emotional state.

  • We Are In This Together

I quote Mother Teresa a lot. Mostly because she speaks to my heart in such a simple and loving way.

Today we are going to tap and reflect on her words, “If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”

  • Internal Peace Is A Process (That Is Well Worth The Effort)

In my experience, internal peace is not something that happens at the flip of a switch. As Lyndon B. Johnson said, “Peace is a journey of a thousand miles and it must be taken one step at a time.”

Just because it is a long journey it doesn’t mean that we don’t see the fruits of that work until we reach the end of the journey.

With each step we take we have more peace in our life.

Today we are are going to tap for being gentle with ourselves as we work through this process.

  • Needing To Be At Peace With Ourselves

It is really easy to look at the world and notice only the things that bring a sense of disharmony in our lives. I like William Hazlitt’s thought, “Those who are at war with others are not at peace with themselves.”

The place we need to start our work is to work on finding peace within ourselves.

Today we are going to tap for finding that internal sense of peace.

  • Your Life As A Gift

I love Hans Urs von Balthasar (and not just because his name is fun to say). My favorite quote of his is: “What you are is God’s gift to you, what you become is your gift to God.”

Today we are going to tap for being open to becoming what we can be and how our life can be a gift.

  • Not Having A Human Experience

The Pierre Teilhard de Chardin quote “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience” is one that I come back to again and again.

Today we are going to tap to help keep our time on earth in perspective.

    When Our Goals Feel Unreasonable
    (audio 4m08s)

It’s really easy to get caught up in the day-to-day…It’s really easy to get caught up in the physical world…It’s really easy to get caught up into what is happening right now…And amidst the daily chaos…Amidst the daily grind…I find myself in a spot…Where I’m trying to carve out space…To be present to my soul…And to be present to my eternal self…It’s good that I make these strides…It’s good that I put importance on these things…But if you were looking at me from the outside…You would almost believe my spiritual self…Is an important second thought…Is an important afterthought…For my physical moment and physical presence takes precedence…I give myself permission to recognize…I am a spiritual being…Who happens to be in the physical world for a moment…A moment I want to take advantage of…But when I remember I’m a spiritual being…Who is having this momentary experience…It helps me to place moment to moment in context…It helps me to recognize what is truly important…It helps me to recognize how I need to interact…I take this moment to re-remind myself…I am a spiritual being having a physical moment…I am a spiritual being having a physical manifestation…And it’s not the other way around…This moment is important…My physical self is important…But those are tools for my spiritual being…I am a spiritual being having a physical experience.

  • Let Nothing Frighten You

“Let nothing perturb you, nothing frighten you. All things pass. God does not change. Patience achieves everything.” – St Teresa of Ávila

I know that I need to be reminded of this often because it is easy for me to lose perspective. It is easy for me to lose sight of the big picture.

Today we tap to keep things in perspective which will keep fear at bay.

    Let Nothing Frighten You
    (audio 3m17s)

There’s a part of me that’s frantic…There’s a part of me that’s overwhelmed…There’s a part of me that’s quickly moving through the day…Worried about what will happen next…Worried about what is to come…Worried about who is going to overwhelm me…Worried about what is going to overwhelm me…And as frantic as my life is…Moment to moment…Day to day…In the big picture…Things are calm…Things are smooth….When I look in the big picture…The frantic up and down…Flattens out…Over time all is well…Over time all is good…I give myself permission…To see the big picture…To have patience with myself…To have patience with time…I give myself permission…To be easy with myself…To be easy with time…There is no rush…To be who I am…Because I’m already there…There is no rush…To get to this moment…Because I am already here…I give myself permission to be easy…I give myself permission to be easy with myself…I give myself permission to be in this time…In this moment…Patient and gentle.

  • Need For Forgiveness And Goodness

Today we reflect upon “Man has two great spiritual needs. One is for forgiveness. The other is for goodness.” – Billy Graham

Often the place we need the most forgiveness is in not offering ourselves goodness.

Today we tap to create space for both goodness and forgiveness in our lives.

    Need For Forgiveness And Goodness
    (audio 3m57s)

There are goals that I want to achieve…There are goals that I think are really important…It will make my life so much better…It will make other people’s lives better as well…And it’s something that is new for me…It is something that is different for me…It is something that feels like it is a long way away…And it’s going to require me to learn something new…It’s going to require me to do something new…It’s going to require me to do things I’ve never done before…And I feel like I have to learn so much…And it’s going to take so long to learn that…And I feel like I can’t move forward…Until I’ve learned all of those new things…But I don’t have to learn it all to start…As I begin to learn…I can start putting my new knowledge into action…As I begin to learn…I can start to implement what I know…It is a process…And nothing I have ever done…Didn’t require some learning first…And even though I have so much to learn…The goals I want to achieve…Are important enough to put in the effort…The goals I want to achieve…Mean so much to me I’m willing to try…It is going to take time…It is going to take effort…I am going to have to work at it…But the knowledge I gather…The knowledge I capture…Is enough to help me to move forward…To be successful…Learning new things is an investment…That takes time…But will pay dividends…For the rest of my life…I give myself permission…To take the time…To do the work…Knowing it will pay off in the long run.

  • How Fear Responds To Hope

I love the Vincent McNabb quote: “Hope is some extraordinary spiritual grace that God gives us to control our fears, not to oust them.”

It reminds me that my goal isn’t to be fearless. My goal is to be fearless enough in this moment to take action. Fear doesn’t have to be banished for that to happen. It only needs to be understood and managed.

Today we tap to keep fear in perspective as we reach for hope.

    How Fear Responds To Hope
    (audio 3m48s)

Fear is a real part of my life…Fear is something that shows up every single day…In big and small ways…But fear is not the enemy…Fear is there to keep me safe…It comes from a very primitive place…Where physical danger was around every turn…Today, when I notice things that could go wrong…Sometimes it overacts…Sometimes it gets too big…It sees things that could go wrong…And compares them to those ancient dangers…It compares it to being killed by a wild animal…And that’s why it flares up so big…It simply doesn’t want to die…And it sees what is coming as possibly doing just that…It is possible for me…To take action…To move forward…To live fully…Even while feeling fear…It is possible for me…To notice the fear…To recognize it’s trying to keep me safe…And to clearly see what the danger actually is…I give myself permission…To be easy with myself…As I experience this fear…Fear keeps me safe…When I see it for what it is…I can recognize the fear…Understand the fear…And still take action that moves me forward everyday…The goal isn’t to be fearless…The goal is to take the right action…With understanding the message the fear is conveying.

  • Knowing What Happiness Truly Is

From time to time I need to be reminded of Denis Waitley’s quote: “Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.”

All of the tapping I do is about bringing myself into being fully present in the moment. When I am able to do that I find happiness and am able to be my true self.

Today we are going to tap to find our way to the happiness of the present moment.

    Knowing What Happiness Truly Is
    (audio 3m10s)

Happiness cannot be traveled to…Happiness cannot be owned…Happiness cannot be earned…Happiness cannot be worn…Happiness cannot be consumed…Happiness is living every moment with love…Happiness is living every moment with grace…Happiness is living every moment with gratitude…Happiness cannot be traveled to…Happiness cannot be owned…Happiness cannot be worn…Happiness cannot be consumed…Happiness is living every minute with love…Happiness is living every minute with grace…Happiness is living every minute with gratitude…Happiness is experiencing every moment with love…Happiness is experiencing every moment with grace…Happiness is experiencing every moment with gratitude.
