  • Achieving This Goal Means I’d Then Just Create A Bigger Goal And That Feels Exhausting

    No goal that we create will be the be all and end all goal. Not matter what we achieve we will want something more soon afterwards.

    Knowing this, it’s easy to become demotivated about our current goals because they feel less worthwhile if we are just going to want something else right after achieving them.

  • Others Want Me To Pursue This Because What They Will Get Out Of My Success

    Our success doesn’t happen in a vacuum. When we make progress it can directly impact the lives of our loved ones.

    Our loved ones can sometimes encourage us to take action because of the benefits they will receive, rather than what we get out of it.

  • I Am Worried That If I Do This For Myself My Loved Ones Will Expect Me To Do It For Them As Well

    When we make changes in our life it often means doing more work because we are taking new actions and learning new things.

    Our loved ones sometimes want to reap the benefits of our hard work as well. It is fine for us to choose to share our progress with our loved ones but more difficult if there is a sense of expectation from them.

    Feeling worried about others taking advantage of our progress can hold us back from taking action.

  • I Am Too Old To Learn All The New Things I Need To Know How To Do

    Small children are like sponges when it comes to learning. It is almost as if they learn by osmosis.

    As we get older it can feel like we are just not able to pick up new things, particularly those involving unfamiliar technology. Part of us resists trying something new because we don’t want to deal with the frustration that comes with learning.

  • I Don’t Just Fail At Things BUT I Am A Failure

    Sometimes we can see that we failed at something. At other times where we feel like we ARE a failure.

    Failure is not an outcome of something we attempted, but who we are. We feel like we are a failure.

    When we feel like a failure it is really hard to take action because we feel hopeless.

    To achieve our goals learning new skills is almost always a must. When we are learning new things there will be times where we are completely lost.

  • If I Learn How To Do This New Thing Then I Will Be Given Another New Thing I Have To Learn

    Learning new things is great. It helps us to grow, move forward, and become more self-sufficient. Unfortunately, we can (or others can) feel like we always need to be learning something new. Once we have gained one skill there is a pull to learn another.

  • People Close To Me Judge My Failure Unreasonably And Harshly

    Our loved ones can be our harshest critics. It might be because they can feel liberated to criticize because they are so close to us. It might have to do with the fact that they feel uncomfortable by our effort to move forward.

    Regardless why it happen, it can be really hard when we are judged by those close to us.
