Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation in which we can clearly see or imagine what we want, but we have no clue about the steps we need to take to start moving towards our goal.
To help figure out the necessary steps we are going to return to the tool I shared with you in Finding Clarity.
Work your way through these questions again (if you have not done it before).
As you look at these questions you will see that questions 7 – 10 are the ones most focused on action. Just because that is the case don’t go skipping past the first 6 questions.
Often the steps we need to take will be clearer when we have a better idea about what we want.
- What don’t you want?
- What do you want?
- What will it do for you if you get it?
- How will you know when you have it?
- When, where, and with who do you want it?
- How will getting it affect other aspects and people in your life?
- What is stopping you from having this already?
- What resources do you already have that will help you obtain it?
- What additional resources do you need to obtain it?
- What are the first steps you are going to take now?
Time Frame And Resources
Now that you have come up with steps to take by answering question 10 it is important that you set yourself up for success.
Answer the following questions for each of your next steps:
- Do I have everything I need to take action? If not, how can I get what I need?
- What will it look like if I complete this step successfully?
- By when am I going to complete this task?
When we know what we need to take an action, know how to get what we don’t have, have a clear definition of success, and know by when we are going to complete it, we are much more likely to be successful.
