We want our loved ones to support us and to be happy about our progress and success.
But there will be times when they just don’t get it. They don’t understand our goals or they don’t understand why they are important to us and this lack of support can influence our willingness to take action.
Today we are going to tap for those times when our loved ones don’t take our goals seriously.
My Loved Ones Don’t Take My Goals Seriously
(audio 4m33s)
I know my goals are important…I know my life will be so much better…When I achieve these things…These goals mean a lot to me…This transformation means a lot to me…And I recognize the fact…That there will be times in my life…When those around me don’t take my goals seriously…When those around me don’t see this as significant…When those around me don’t see this as important…And part of that is because…Everybody is so used to seeing me one way…It’s not that they don’t think I can be more…It’s not that they don’t think I can do more…They have just known me one way for so long…It’s hard for them to imagine me any other way…And since it is so hard for them to imagine me another way…My new goals and aspirations seem unrealistic…Because in their minds that’s not who I am…They have seen me one way for so long…They are blind to the possibilities that there could be something different…And I give myself permission…To know that it’s OK to change…Even when others don’t take my goals seriously…Even when others don’t understand something new is possible…When I become something new…When I achieve my goals…That will become the new normal…That is the way they will see me all the time…It won’t be possible for them to know or understand something different…And in a lot of ways they won’t even remember the old me…I give myself permission…To know that it’s OK to change…Even if others don’t see it…As I achieve my goals…That is who they will understand me to be.
