Small children are like sponges when it comes to learning. It is almost as if they learn by osmosis.
As we get older it can feel like we are just not able to pick up new things, particularly those involving unfamiliar technology. Part of us resists trying something new because we don’t want to deal with the frustration that comes with learning.
Today we are going to tap for feeling like we are too old or too slow to learn something new.
I Am Too Old To Learn All The New Things I Need To Know How To Do
(audio 4m2s)
I know there are a lot of things I need to learn…We live in a dynamic and constantly changing world…And sometimes it feels really hard to try and keep up…Like there’s no possible way that we can manage and handle it all…And it feels like I just learn things too slowly…It feels like I’m not smart enough to handle it…And no matter how hard I try I’m not going to learn it…And it is true I do not learn things as fast as I did as a child…Because children are made to be sponges to absorb everything new and quickly…But I recognize the fact…It is still possible for me to learn…If nothing else I have learned how to learn…I know the types of learning that don’t work for me…And I know the types of learning that do work for me…I also recognize the specific things I want to learn…So I’m not wasting any time on general ideas…Or things that I don’t need…Yes, it takes time to learn new things…And it takes effort to learn new things…But I recognize the fact…It is possible for me to learn things…And even if the pace that I learn is slower than some…I can learn what I need to learn…And I’m willing to put in the effort because I recognize…What learning these things will do for me…Once I learn how to do it I have the knowledge forever…And I don’t have to be in a rush…Because once I have it, I have it…And the effort put in to learn this…No matter how long it takes…Is worthwhile because of what I can achieve after I learn it.
