We are naturally disposed to keeping our lives consistent. Consistent means predictable and so even when things are not perfect, they are manageable because we know what to expect.
This explains our natural disposition to strive to keep things the same.
Today we are going to tap for those times we resist change because it is less predictable.
It Feels Safer To Keep Things How They Are Than Rock The Boat And Try Something New

I know I want to move forward…I know I want change…I know I want transformation…I want this to be easier…And I want this to be better…But I recognize the fact…That if I make changes…Those changes are going to ripple out…Those changes are going to affect other things…Those changes are going to make it harder for me…And those changes are going to make it harder for others…And there’s a part of me…That doesn’t want to deal with the resistance to change…That doesn’t want to deal with the friction that is created…When I try something different and new…But I recognize the fact…That change is an inevitability…Nothing actually stays the same…Things change over time because people change over time…And unexpected things show up…Knocking us off our game…And so, it is OK for me to create change…Because change is already happening…And I might as well make it be…Change that is beneficial for me…I understand in the short term…Change can make things harder…Change can make things more complicated…Change can even make things overwhelming…But in the long term…The benefit of that change…So outweighs anything that happens in the short term…When I make change, it changes the things around me…When I make change, it eliminates predictability…And I give myself permission to know…That change is appropriate…Change is OK…Especially when that change leads to something better.
