Learning new things is great. It helps us to grow, move forward, and become more self-sufficient. Unfortunately, we can (or others can) feel like we always need to be learning something new. Once we have gained one skill there is a pull to learn another.
Today we are going to tap for the concern that learning something new will only create the need to learn something else new.
If I Learn How To Do This New Thing Then I Will Be Given Another New Thing I Have To Learn
(audio 4m07s)
I know I want to move forward…And in order to move forward…There are things I need to learn…There are skills I need to gather…Things that I don’t know how to do…And as much as I would like…To be able to add these new skills…There is a part of me…That is afraid…That the instant I learn this new thing…There’s going to be another thing waiting behind it…And once I learn that…There’s going to be another thing waiting behind that…And once I learn that…There’s going to be another thing behind that…It becomes a never ending cycle…More and more to be learned…And I understand why I resist something like that…I understand why there’s a part of me that doesn’t want to move forward…I understand why there’s a part of me that wouldn’t want to participate in that…But I recognize the fact…I’m not learning new things…For the sake of learning new things…With each new thing that I learn…I am positioning myself…To move forward…To be more successful…And many times when I learn something new…Even though there’s another something new to learn behind it…I am moving forward…I am making progress…I can step into these new and different things…Even though it feels like…There is a never ending gauntlet…Of things that I have to learn…I give myself permission…To be present and ready…Knowing that learning this next thing…Leads me closer to success…Not simply to another task that needs to be learned.
I really needed that today! It’s brought me great comfort!
Thank you ;-)
