Our loved ones are well intentioned. They want our life to be better, but they don’t always know what we need. Because of this they usually decide what is best for us based on their experience, and not on our needs.
When this happens we sometimes name goals that aren’t really what we want, but what others want for us.
Today we are going to tap for dealing with the goals that others want for us that aren’t right for us.
Others Want This For Me More Than I Want This For Me

I appreciate the fact that there are people in my life…I appreciate the fact that they want better for me…I appreciate the fact that they want more for me…And they have a very specific definition of success…They have a very specific definition of happiness…And it’s based on their experience…It’s based on their needs…It’s based on their desires…And just because it is right for someone else…Does not mean it’s right for me…Just because it is good for someone else…Doesn’t mean it’s good for me…I give myself permission…To see other people’s suggestions…Not necessarily as a path to follow…But as a sign of the fact that they care for me…A sign of the fact that they want what’s best for me…Even though they don’t actually know what is best for me…I can appreciate their concern…I can appreciate their love…And I can choose not follow their advice…I can choose not move towards their goal…Which they have for me…Letting go of their goals…Letting go of their definition of happiness…Is not letting go the connection between us…Is not letting go with the love…Is not disrespecting them…It is simply a statement…Of what works best for me…And I give myself permission…To pursue the goals that work best for me…I need to pursue things not because they want them for me…I need to pursue them because I want them for me…I give myself permission to follow my goals and my dreams…While still appreciating their love and concern…Which shows up in their suggestions.
